Cellulite affects 80% of women above age 35. Cellulite is also becoming common in adolescent girls and young boys. Men are not immune. Cellulite progressively worsens in both sexes and may result in physical and psychological issues.

Cellulite is a visually apparent lumps that resemble cottage cheese and is commonly found on buttocks, stomach, arms and thighs. Academically, the term is used to describe deposits of fat trapped in pockets of connective tissues that are situated just under the skin. Cosmetically, cellulite is responsible for the bulky and irregular appearance that is visible even from moderate distances.

There are many factors that contribute to the formation of cellulite. Causes of cellulite include hormonal changes (especially during pregnancy), and weight gain. A sedentary lifestyle and an excess consumption of saturated fats and carbohydrates also contributes to forming cellulite. Diet and exercise are crucial to the treatment regimen for cellulite.
