Introduction: I began my career in Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery in 1984 at the University of Iowa College of Medicine where I conducted research in mesenchymal (stem cells) cells and tissue regeneration, cancer cell identification via intermediate filaments immunofluorence staining, free flap viability, super glue wound closure, nutrition and metabolism following vertical gastric banding, and the Bardach palatoplasty. I published and presented to the Triological Society as a senior medical student on the Incidence of Cholesteatoma in Cleft Palate.

Training:

My residency training programs include Otolaryngology-Facial Plastic Surgery at the esteemed Cleveland Clinic, and Emergency Medicine at UCLA. At UCLA, I honed my Face and Body Sculpting skills under Dr Malcolm Lesavoy (former Chief of Plastic Surgery). Since 2012, I have worked and published with Dr. Marek Dobke (Chief of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery) at UCSD on Advanced Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and Regenerative - Translational NanoTechnology. I completed a Breast Fellowship under the direction of Dan Metcalf, MD in Oklahoma City, OK.

In June 2017, I was inducted and honored with a LIFETIME membership in the BEST PLASTIC SURGEONS OF AMERICA.

On September 7-9, 2016, I was invited to participate in the USN-San Diego Medical Center C.A.R.E. conference. The Sixth Annual Project CARE Summit invited World-renowned speakers and surgeons from Military Medicine as well civilian counterparts to discuss advances in cutting edge Restorative, Reconstructive and Regenerative Medicine. The Summit included hands-on training for participants in both the simulation lab and the state-of-the-art cadaver lab at the Naval Medical Center San Diego Hospital. I was Awarded 24 CME for my active participation.

In 2012, I was awarded 40 hours of CME in Aesthetic Plastic Surgery by the UCSD Dept of Plastic Surgery for my clinical work with Dr. Marek Dobke, Professor and Chief of Plastic Surgery. I continue to attend the weekly UCSD Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Clinic (Volunteer) and the Plastic Surgery CME conferences.

In 2003, I was included in the Who's Who of Professionals book series.

In 1997 based on my chapter on MaxilloFacial Trauma, emergency facial trauma patient care, and multiple lectures given to Emergency Physicians and trauma surgeons throughout the USA, I was recognized and distinguished as a Fellow by the American College of Emergency Physicians.

Research:

Since 1984, I have conducted research in mesenchymal stem cells and growth factors, PRP and fibrin clot, stem cell and growth factor wound healing, skin grafting, adipose (fat) grafting, free flaps, super-glue, lasers for both ablation and collagen stimulation, cosmeceutical biochemistry, and clinical nutrition and metabolism for both accelerated wound healing and optimal lean muscle mass and weight management (Metabolic Syndrome).

I am the inventor of the DermaLift minimally invasive face and neck lift using tumescent techniques. I am also the inventor of the DermaLift Stem Cell Face lift using the patients' own fat derived stem cells and growth factors!

I lecture throughout the USA and Europe on Facial Trauma; ADSVF - Fat / Stem Cell / Growth Factor Harvest, Process, and Transplant Techniques; Aesthetic Facial Rejuvenation; Growth Factor Technology; Scar and Wound Healing; and Age Related Nutrition and Protein Metabolism (sarcopenia).

I was the course developer and instructor of the advanced cosmetic reconstruction workshops for emergency medicine physicians and trauma surgeons at UCLA from 1991-1994.

I have been the course Director and Instructor for Advanced Autologous Fat and Stem Cell Harvesting and Grafting to Face, Scars, Breasts, and Wounds; Advanced Face-Lift techniques; Rejuvenation of the Aged Eye and Lip; Face and Neck LipoSculpture, and Body Contouring.

I have developed courses, lectured and provided hands - on Medical and Trauma Resuscitation, WMD, HazMat, DT (infra-structure, mass casualty trauma and logistics), UW-tactical medicine, and aeromedical transport for several government agencies. Charity:

I perform charitable clinical work for the underprivileged and the underserved in the greater Southern California region and abroad. I also provide pro bono administrative services for several 501C3 organizations.
